Mix a leisurely paced, refined atmosphere and a stroll in an élite, historical town, and you will enjoy my best tour of Asolo.
In the fiefdom of Asolo, the only Queen that the Republic of Venice ever had, used to welcome and protect the greatest minds of the Italian Renaissance era. Her name was Caterina Cornaro. Being a sort of female Magnifico, Caterina had a long and intriguing life, set between the love for the best Italian Culture and the courage to face the Mediterranean fierce politics.
Wander with me among the nice buildings of Asolo and its stunning views towards the valleys. You will feel the same emotions that led many poets, actors, travellers and artists to choose Asolo as their regenerating and safe harbor.
Castelfranco is a nearby tiny village, hosting the masterpiece of a giant of the Renaissance: Giorgione’s Madonna, whose moving history interlocks with the one of the entire Republic of Venice and its conflicts with other Mediterranean cultures.
- Transportation: car needed
The tour of Asolo and Castelfranco can be combined with a drive to the Prosecco Land, to Vicenza or to the Brion Grave by Carlo Scarpa.
